Daily Sketchbook Habit: Prompts!
In my last post, I mentioned a daily (or weekly, or whatever) drawing habit, and what a helpful tool it can be to send your creativity through the roof! So I thought I’d follow that up with a list of 30 low-pressure drawing prompts you can do if you’re feeling low on inspiration and need some ideas to jumpstart your artsy mind!
You could print out this list, cut out the prompts, put them in a bowl and choose one lottery-style, you could do one item per day, (or more, if you’re feeling particularly ambitious) one per week, or for a bit more of a challenge, give yourself one prompt to do at the beginning of each week, and then do the same prompt in some different way each day until either you get bored, or the beginning of the next week!
For example, if I picked “vegetable” as my prompt for the week, I could draw the same vegetable In seven different styles, I could do a different veggie for each day, use a different medium, or even start with a super detailed drawing and see how simplified and graphic I can get it by the end of the week! So many possibilities!
Without further ado, here’s the list!
Breakfast food
A pet
A writing/drawing utensil
A light source
A pattern
Footwear
Something that reminds you of the nearest holiday
Your favorite animal
A beverage
A fruit
A landscape
A color
A famous person
An album cover

A coin/some form of currency
Tools
A vegetable
A tree
Ocean life
A brand

Again, no pressure! If you feel stuck, just copy my sketches shown above! If you choose to start this challenge, I invite you to put your work in the comments below! I’d love to see how you interpret each prompt, or even the ones you come up with yourself!
Have fun being amazing and creative! I can’t wait to see what you make!
