LOLIN Booth!

A few months ago, my mom and I were invited to be vendors at the Love Of Labs Indy (LOLIN) festival! Our friend Theresa Harris reached out and asked if I could do custom dog portraits, and if my mom could do a “print-your-own-doggy-bandana” booth! We accepted, and the booth prep… waited for like seven weeks before beginning. (Procrastination mixed with good reasons.)

Eventually, though, we did indeed get all our stuff done! I made and packaged up several of my old Linocut block prints, went out to Michaels (because somehow Indianapolis only has ONE art supplies store left, which is an outrage I would go into in full detail if this was a different post) for some good portrait paper, and even added some brand new full-color prints to my repertoire!

The full color prints included my Giant Pacific Octopus, my Grand Cayman Blue Iguana, my American Bullfrog, (which I actually have yet to post!) My Great Blue Heron, and my Big Sketchbook Drawing, which I have since started calling my “Hello Baby” piece.

I also offered block prints from my previous booths, hand-printed tea towels, and the top seller, Dog Portraits!

All in all, I did NOT have to pack so much stuff into the car. I ended up only selling three block prints, all to the same person. I didn’t sell any full color prints either, or any tea towels. (sadness.) I did do about 20 dog portraits, which was cool and fun!

On a bittersweet note, this was my final booth, at least for a while. My junior year brought a much larger workload than I was expecting, and booths are just a big undertaking! However, my work will still be on display and for sale at local artist shops around Broad Ripple, like Create art studio (which is absolutely fantastic and amazing, you should check it out) and, in very exciting news, my Mom’s new space on broad Ripple Ave!!!
Overall, I’m really happy with how this booth turned out! LOLIN is a really cool program, and I’m glad I got to be a part of the festivities! Plus, people watching, live music, and dog-sketching is never a bad way to spend an afternoon!

Big thanks to LOLIN for inviting me, to my mom for helping so much with setup and preparation, to everyone who bought a print or portrait from me, and to you, for reading about it!
